Algebraic numbers, minimal polynomials, and algebraic extensions

This lecture was given on October 31, 2014.

It gives definitions, examples, and proves a couple basic results about algebraic (and transcendental) numbers, minimal polynomials, and algebraic field extensions.

The lecture assumes knowledge of the definitions of fields, polynomial rings, and the degree of a field extension.
