It was going to cost me $2800.00 to have a mooring installed by the only local mooring contractor.I decided to have a go at making and installing the mooring myself with some help from some mates, I used some heavy steel pipe and thick plates I had laying around, the idea is to have a cheap heavy mooring that will sink into the sand, I could attach some anchors with chain in the future if needed. It worked out well and was worth filming the day, the key was we could roll the mooring everywhere easily due to its large diameter.

Bit of a update- My boat has been moored now for approx 6 months, the mooring has sunk into the sand bottom which took a while as a big hole formed around it, the sand eventually fill it in though, there has been strong winds over 40+ knots, all looking good so far, very happy with my homemade cheap but deadly mooring.

The key to the easy of this installation was being able to roll the heavy mooring, on and off trailer, into boat while on its side
, the mooring is doing its job real well, good luck and be safe.

With concrete mooring blocks the attachment point is set into the concrete and cannot be replaced once worn, i just simply unshackle my mooring chain from the metal pipe and replace periodically, Just had highest recorded flooding and my 5 t yacht did not move
