This reminds me of a Creepy Pasta I read, guy moves into a new apartment and shortly becomes haunted by a lanky figure that matches the description of the monster in the movie. Whenever it appeared all the light bulbs would pop, turns out there was another monster that lived in the lights and the lanky one that you see all story is popping the lights to protect the guy who moved into the apartment
