Показать описание
The glossopharyngeal nerve belongs to a set of neural structures known as the cranial nerves. They are bilateral, meaning you can find one on each side. There are many branches of the glossopharyngeal nerve, the most of which are involved in general sensation.
For example, the lingual branches of the glossopharyngeal nerve are involved in the sensation of the tongue. The tonsillar branches are involved in the sensation of your tonsils. The pharyngeal branches are responsible for the afferent innervation of the pharynx. The tympanic branch is involved in the innervation of the middle ear of the pharyngotympanic tube... and that’s only a snippet!
