New 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace - Premium Family SUV Facelift

Volkswagen introduced the Tiguan back in 2016, and since then has received numerous updates. For the European , the company introduced a longer, 7-seat version, called the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace in 2019, and for 2022, the company revealed the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace with revised design, new control and assist systems, as well as new features to compete with its rivals in the segment.

Due to its redesigned front, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace grows to a length of 22mm at 4,723mm offering more room inside. To maintain the premium quality of the Tiguan Allspace, the facelift receives a newly designed front featuring an independent radiator grille and signature light. Buyers can also opt for the new IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, as well as a "sweeping" indicator function of the LED turn signals. On either side of the redesigned Volkswagen logo, an illuminated strip in the radiator grille adds a striking visual note.

Volkswagen will offer the Tiguan Allspace in Germany in three variants- Life, Elegance and R-Line. While the Life trim will be the base version, the Elegance trim level offers numerous chrome-plated elements in the interior and on the exterior, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels. Two new colours have been added to the options - Oryx White and Kings Red Metallic.

The overall layout of the cabin remains the same - neat and premium.. It further gains a new steering wheel, touch-based AC controls, an updated infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and ambient lighting.

Existing features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, rain-sensing wipers and headlamps, powered, heated and ventilated front seats, paddle shifters and three-zone climate control are carried forward.

Safety is covered by nine airbags, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, rear traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, lane assist, and hill descent control. The facelift gains Travel Assist, which supports the driver with steering, braking and acceleration at speeds up to 210kmph.

Partly automated driving is made possible by IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist that is used for the first time in the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Depending on the gearbox type, the system can take over steering, braking and acceleration at speeds starting from 0 km/h (with dual clutch gearbox) or 30 km/h (manual gearbox) up to 210 km/h. To do this, Travel Assist relies on familiar systems including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) for longitudinal guidance, and Lane Assist (fitted as standard) for lateral guidance.

The Tiguan Allspace facelift gets a 150PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 190PS/245PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. You can also go for a 148PS/200PS 2.0-litre diesel engine, all paired to a 7-speed DSG (dual clutch automatic). The 148PS diesel and 150PS turbo-petrol engines come with front-wheel-drive, while the rest get AWD.
