Best part about this video is “does not mean I will stop thinking like one”.

Man oh man, this hits home. I worked in big law firms for three years because that’s what my college environment taught me was best. It took me three years and two firms to realize that I hate practicing law. It’s daunting to think that you’re leaving the “prestigious” world behind, but I’ve slept so much better since I left. Thanks for making this video Taylor, I’ve been a silent listener for quite some time and absolutely love your content!!

I was in-house strategy consulting for a Fortune 50 healthcare company after grad school.. your comment on advising vs. doing really stands out as the reason that I left after a little over a year. In my case that "doing" was actually delivering healthcare on the micro level. I went to med school and I'm a resident anesthesiologist now, by far much happier and a much better fit for my personality; although there are so many things that I learned from my time in consulting that continue to benefit me on a day to day basis that I also wouldn't have changed it looking back. Looking forward to more content!

It's great to live in an age with this level of openness and transparency. Thank you for sharing your thought process in such a direct yet respectful manner, Taylor!

I had to check the calendar to make sure it’s not April 1st

I'm glad this journey helped you sort through what you like and dislike about a job. I see lots of young people feeling cornered because they studied/got a degree in one industry but find out they are not passionate about it once starting fulltime work. It's never too late to pivot into another industry or career path <3

As someone who comes from humanities, has been going through a mid-life crisis and is *dying* to get into management consulting (out of MBB, I have my eyes set on BCG too), it’s really interesting to hear your experience.

Thank you so much for being so open, insightful and just generally an incredibly brilliant person! So happy you’ve decided to follow your heart and work full time on your passion. Best of luck!!! Can’t wait for your future content 🥹

You have no idea how heartwarming this video is to watch from someone who followed your journey from the early days!

Hi Taylor, UPenn class of 2019 here. I actually also studied IR too. Now I work at a Big 4 firm. Everything that you shared here really resonates with me - it makes me just a little more comfortable and less in despair knowing there’s someone else in my shoes!

It was always going to happen .. There are people who are destined work for others and there are entrepreneurs. I spent years in the corporate world hating it . I just wasn’t cut out for so much of it . Didn’t like being told what to do . Meetings about meetings etc, policies and procedures it drained the life out of me . Greatest gift of working for yourself, you can sail your own ship and map your week often as you choose it’s bliss. Keep on rolling and enjoy the journey ..

Very brave decision to take on YouTube full time, especially since you went to school & put in so much time consulting.
But I've been subscribed to your channel for over a year, and if this means more outstanding content from you, then I selfishly approve!!! Thank you Ms. Taylor Bell & I'm looking forward to more from you 😊

I’m not in consulting but I am extremely burnt out of my tech job as a software engineer in big tech. Literally, I’ve spent the last few weeks contemplating on resigning and pursuing something that I am passionate about - something that I would own / call mine.

It’s very interesting to see someone in almost the exact shoes as myself. Very cool perspective!

I don't normally comment but what you said at the end about how you would not go back and change anything because it has given you the conviction today to pursue your new goals really resonated with me. I've moved about a bunch of corporate jobs in the last few years, not feeling satisfied, and have finally come to the realisation that medicine is the right path for me but I don't regret anything now from that corporate experience because it taught me what I truly value in a career.
Thank you Taylor for reaffirming my thoughts :))

I couldn’t quite understand where my dissatisfaction was coming from when I should be happy with work…..this exactly hits it. Thank you!

So spot on about no regretting your journey to this point. It is not wasted - not only have you experienced both sides of the coin but there's no doubt the work you put into practice at your job will be valuable for whenever you do decide to start your own business. Good luck!

Self awareness is a valuable trait. You are young; follow your gut. Turtle has wings. Good luck Taylor!
