Rarest Type Of Caboose Ever! Remote Control Caboose On Cincinnati Eastern Railroad, JawTooth shorts

CCET used to have this remote control caboose for moving rock by one person. The single crew person could stand on the ground and watch the rock unload from the bottom of the hopper car. This operation did not last long. I was lucky to get videos of the caboose passing by. It is a rare caboose that came from the east with a story of its own. It was only on the CCET for a short time and is now out west somewhere. I would have to look through my long videos to find out the details.

Filmed in 1080p with 30fps. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

This locomotive is an EMD GP49. It has the turbocharged 12-cylinder 645F3B engine rated at 2950 HP, (2800 HP for traction). The 645E3 was used in the Dash-2 locomotives while the DDA40X made for the UP (Centennials) used the 645E3A. The 645F3 was the engine that EMD pushed too far and, combined with GE’s successful introduction of its Dash-8 series, was the start of the fall of EMD as the new locomotive sales leader. Alaska RR was the only customer for the GP49 and while the six-axle SD49 was offered, none were ever built. I remember the excitement as the first four of them were going through the Twin Cities in 1983-they looked pretty cool when they were glossy but the paint chalked badly and they didn’t look new for long. The GP49 reminds me of the EMD SD39 which used a turbocharged 12-cylinder 645E3. The concept is basically to trade fuel savings (four fewer cylinders) for the maintenance costs of a turbocharger (which is a significant expense). The small number of sales of the 39 and 49 tells you what the railroads thought of the concept.

It's great to see a caboose on a train no matter the length! 😃😃😃❤❤❤

Looks like a blackout caboose. I remember when the railroad did away with the caboose. I was disappointed. Just the word caboose is cool. Like "I'm going to kick you in the caboose." Or "Check out that caboose."
