How he hovered over every building in that settlement but somehow draged his mouse around the mine instead of over it absolutely sent me😂

Garrison/militia buildings and AI miscalculation:
The AI doesn't 'know' about the militia units that spawn. That is why it was willing to attack even with 1:1 odds, since it didn't know those two elven defender units would spawn in. Those defender units are worth their weight in gold since they address one of the biggest issues the elves have: shallow manpower pools. But the defenders autoreplenish between fights, so they can keep on grinding.

Units: Manpower Pools & Retraining, Merging & Experience

Manpower pool keep track of each individual soldier in the pool. When you recruit a unit, it is a full unit os those soldiers, and the same amount is removed from the manpower pool. Since you can't retrain a unit to less than its full strength (other than weapon and armor upgrades), you need to have enough people in the pool: (max unit size - current unit size). So if you have a unit of elven archers with 127 max size, and you want to retrain a unit of 27 elven archers, you need to have 100 elves in the pool.

Each unit pool is separate, though. So retraining/recruiting spears doesn't matter for the archers and vice versa. Point is, you have been recruiting new units, so your pools are empty.

Merging can lower XP, since the game tracks every amount of XP each individual little character has in the unit! So each of those 127 archers has their own XP stat, and the unit XP is the average. So if you have 60 archers with two chevrons merged with 60 archers with zero chevrons, the end result should be a 120 strong unit with 1 chevron. However, it gets tricky if it is not a full merge, as you might end up merging lower XP troops, etc. That is why you should always merge from high XP to low XP, because as long as you have a couple of high XP guys left in the unit, you can send them to be retrained and the whole unit inherits the XP of that high XP cadre of veterans.

Collect Haldir and some other generals and bring them to the front. Together with Celeborn, you may be able to take Dol Guldur... the generals are very powerful units.

Use haldir in battle he’s costing like 600 for doing nothing!

Apollo, used to watch a lot of your videos about third age and medieval 2. Always wanted to play but never had PC. Recently found out that medieval 2 has a version for IOS. After playing the game I had been wanting to for years, came back to your channel to see you playing a third age play through (my favorite). Great timing, really enjoying it!

you can't retrain because you don't have enough men in the pool, it's WAY longer than vanilla especially elves
you have to calculate the amount of men you get per turn, for example an unit with 100 men that needs 10 turns to replenish means you get 10 men per turn,
so if you have a depleted unit with 40 men and just recruited a full unit, you'd have to wait 6 turns to replenish your unit

all and all you're better off just sending back units with less than 30 elves, also try to optimize the upkeep you pay with free upkeep is cities that can get this unit and forts.
merging is a big waste if not an emergency

this will boom your economy (among many other things)

Thanks for the video,
Quick advise here, put your generals in the forts, you'll save a lot of money this way. especially Haldir.
For economy you should try building the port and mines as soon as possible.
Keep on the good fight !

You inspired me to give this game a go. Just been playing as Lothlorien too and I get a message saying an army is coming and to pay 3K for some troops, my entire army was pushing on Achnod which had a full stack Dol Guldur army sat in it. Then next turn an entire stack of "Mordor" Orcs are beseigning Caras Galadhon wtaf, did not expect this scripted stuff

hi anyone know what pixelated apollo's settings are. Like when i play my campaign, my map in left corner isn't looking that nice at all hahah. In my settings everything is 'high' or 'highest' setting so i don't understand why his map is like so clear and also the map looks slightly sharper
