People saying the head pastry chef was mean all the time - yes, she mentioned the time, but she also took care to mention whenever he did something well and offered positive reinforcement. She never even directly said "you're too slow", but something like "we could move a little bit quicker".

this head chef is probably one of the nicest people I felt. Positive reinforcement while also pointing out time crunch

She's a great teacher. I'd learn the job so quick with her training. Awesome leader. She showed patience while staying professional. Idk how any1 can say she's being rude, she was nothing other than pleasant.

man yall commenters don't realize how nice the head pastry chef was...considering she has a reputation & order quota to uphold/hit daily as a hot shop in NYC. the shop doesn't need the press & BA was barging into their space...still Devon slayed

This pastry chef shows really some great leadership! She just says we're behind on time but don't let it intimidate you, just do the best job possible. And she gives great compliments as she sees he is motivated and also shows him what she sees when the doughnuts are fried.
I would personally be a lot more frustrated with someone at the front of the house coming in and saying there are only four of the twenty-five tastes on the shelve and they get to open in a few minutes. That intimidates trust in the back of the house a lot more, but Jessica kept calm and trust in him, and handled it great. Eventually seeing the milk frother of the coffee machine covered in residue would make me think front of the house would have something else to care for.

I get the feeling that the BA crew got there much later than they should have. I can picture they were supposed to start working closer to 5

Could watch longer videos of this sort. As a former kitchen employee, this takes me back and warms my heart. Devon should open up their own business and start a reality show !

Y’all wylin. Kitchens are intense they seemed pretty nice considering. And the point of this series is that it’s a real glimpse into their real workday.

I don’t always love these “working a shift” videos, they can be stressful 😅 But Devon is so charming!!

If you guys think she’s annoying, she’s a sweetheart compared to some other individuals in the kitchen. Especially considering the reputation that the Doughnut Project has as New York City’s top doughnut specialty stores.

I thought she kept a good attitude and was patient with him despite the lateness!

He has the perfect hairdo for working in a restaurant with food. So sensible! If I ever had to go back to working in a commercial kitchen, I would learn to French braid my hair close to my head.
