I have the existing DR-10L and it is awesome. I use them everytime I shoot a video where I need to capture voice from one or more people. This new version has some nice features. It would be cool to control them from a mobile phone. 25-hour recording capability is amazing. Yes, it would be useful in an extended event where you want to capture spurious and candid moments. The Pro looks like a great product.

Is it possible to control DR10 via bluetooth and simultaneously sync timecode?

What's the plug in power voltage? Better mics like the Cos11 or DPA need more than 2.5 volts. Most of these type of recorders supply only 2.5 volts. Lower voltage means your pro mic won't deliver full potential. The only one that has 32 bit float and switchable plug in power voltage up to 5 volts that I know of is the Tentacle sync track E. Also is there a European version that lets you monitor sound while recording (because of Zaxcoms patent trolling)? Again Tentacle sync has a Euro version that lets you monitor while recording.

Sometimes I use my drone to record me walking and talking, and I would use an audio recorder like this and sync the audio in post with a clap. However, my concern with this is that the prop noise from my drone will get picked up in the recording. Would the base model DR-10L be better for me since I can manually adjust the gain with that, just enough to pickup on my voice but not the propellers?

I really don't like start stop recording button. Yes it is difficult to accidentially stop recording but also it is very difficult to start recording on purpose.

Timecode is fine, but always capture camera audio. PluralEyes is magic
