As a YouTube creator, my focus is on content that actually pays off—and trust me, it’s not YouTube Shorts! I’ve tried the whole Shorts rabbit hole, cranking out 100 on a dedicated channel, and the ROI was laughable. YouTube seems only half-invested in Shorts because the real money is in long-form videos. Just my two cents!

I was making so called "shorts" a little longer than 1 minute. Those longer "shorts" would make more money than a real short. I want my videos to run long form that makes me more money than shorts do. Your example proves my point. Thanks

On my one long short YouTube released to a short feed since last night, I’ve gotten a small number of returning followers who watch at 50% for 40 sec. on a 1:13 video. My duration chart is way above average through to the end. I post music videos with photos of the instrument being played, no fancy shots or effects. The 1-3 minute length is PERFECT for the average piece of music today. Long shorts are our music playpen! Now, YouTube, monetize serious music creators for their high quality content and platform adaptability. 😊

3 minute shorts sounds like YT finding another way to decrease creator payout while generating more revenue. There are no advantages to making a 3 minute short vs regular video.

I did a test last week myself. I uploaded a 2:45 vertical short. I never set it to public just to see what happened. It originally showed in my long format videos, but after 2 days it moved over to the shorts section. I'm a sports niche but i am in the process of starting a second channel to help other youtubers grow

It would be nice if shorts over 1 minute long had an incentive like a higher monetization value, because if people watch them that is technically having people stay on the platform and watch for longer

as a shorts creator i feel like 3 minute shorts kind of defeat the purpose of shorts they are meant to be well short so i will likely never make one over a minute...
