GREAT WOODWORKING TIP for making a DIY WOOD DOWEL JIG

Pallet wood often gets a raw deal in the wood working field, in fairly in our
opinion as we feel not only is it freely available, it is ideal for woodworking
projects with just a little imagination.

The two images shown are a corner joint made from pallet wood, marked our
with a dowel marking jig, some wooden dowels and a little glue along with
a few screws ... its a tool for life with a little re inforcement of again
cheap galvanised strap to prevent hammering from damaging the marking gauge.

Projects like this along with a good quality wood stain can give amazing
results.

Dimensions are not important , you make the gauge to the dimensions suited
to the wood your working with.

This movie the gauge was made 100mm high with a 18mm gap so we can utilise
it with pallet wood as most pallet wood in the United Kingdom is 18mm thick
and 90 or 100mm wide in 1 metre and 1.2 metre lengths.

We use a good quality Dark Mahagony Wood Stain from Morrell's as in reality
a wood working project is only as good as the result it yields. The wood stain
we are using for our camper trailer build we are utilising this wood stain and diluting
it with solvent to make various shades of brown as the following pictures show.
