It was a dream machine for me! Had the YZ60-80 dealer picture and spec sheets on my wall! I did however love my trusty ole GT80! Rode the wheels off that little bike! 5 up neutral was all the way down!!

We used to race these back in the day.
They used to get so many mods, they were so fast in the mini class.

We used to fit the yz80h barrel and carb on them. Out here in Australia you could buy it as a 50cc . Selected dealers would sell it as a destrocked 60/50.

It was much faster than hotted up 50.
It was the king of 60cc and 50cc class.
Up until the kx60 come along.
Great little machine👍👍

First bike I ever remember getting a ride on, sitting in front of my uncle John, that thing had a power band I still remember almost 40 years later. Thank you guys for preserving our history in such fine detail. Have a great day, guys

I bought my son a 1980 YZ50G for his first bike. Me and my buddies ripped that thing up and down the road hard. Ran a 50:1 amzoil fuel mixture in it and never blew the top end. First year plastic tank and monoshock. 1 down 5 up with a clutch. He will always have bragging rights learning to ride on that bike.

They just made them better back then! More fun in mind. Gives me all the same feelings Ken! Bird's of a feather!

Wow. This video hit home for sure. My very first bike was a ‘83 yz60. Just turned 4 years old. I vividly remember seeing an older man walking the bike back into his garage and my mom decided to turn around and shoot him an offer. Ended up giving $350 for a near perfect yz60. That bike was terrifyingly fast for a 4y/o. But from that day on, I was I infatuated with motorcycles, cars, anything that had an engine honestly. The nostalgia is real haha. One of my most valuable possessions without a doubt. Now, 24 years later, and she still rips. Thanks mom 🫡

This was my first dirt bike. I had a matching yellow and black open face helmet. I had so much fun on that thing.

My first dirt bike was one of these. I am 44 now my dad bought it off some friends second hand. It was an 80s YZ 60 yellow. It had a racing kit called a zinger kit. The people that had it raced it. They said it was basically bored out to 80cc. It was a bad little bike. My older brother and his friends when they were 190, 200 lb teens, that little bike would raise up off the ground when they rode it, and hit it's power bands. Mine was a 5 speed 1 down, 4up. Had power bands in all 5. My big brother has my dad's 1975 Harley Davidson Enduro 175cc. My yz60 would tear that Harley up off the line. My dad raced a guy that had a Honda 100cc, I think it was, with my yz60. My dad was laughing because the little yz tore up that Honda.

This reminds me of the Bridgestone 65cc I raced as a kid in 93 at Blair Bedford PA Dirt drags. I wish I could find a Bridgestone 65cc like that again. My uncle still has the race bike in his garage on display.
