This finally makes sense. No one has been able to properly explain in physiological terms what a chest or head voice is. Your approach is exactly what is used in Indian classical music. The smile metaphor is excellent.

That's what we really need! I record myself all the times while playing guitar and singing, and by doing so I have learned to basically adapt my singing to the "thought" of what I would like to hear. Great video Mark! I love exploring this “Mixed up zone” and finding my full range. Just recorded a new cover and completely threw out all the labels. I just sang the song the way I wanted it to sound! My classical teacher suggested I stay in the mixed and not drop to far down, and it would be easier to reach way up there when needed. That seemed to help. Thanks and Mark! :)
