Five prized racehorses killed in road accident

Five prized mares have been killed after a horse float carrying thoroughbreds from Australia's richest horse sale crashed near Muswellbrook.

They were being transported through the New South Wales Hunter Valley this morning when the vehicle crashed.

The mares were purchased at the Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast earlier this week.

Two men were taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, with non-life-threatening injuries.
