I heard this when it first came out many years ago. I never paid attention to the words, because it was hard for me to make out the words and frankly I wasn’t into operatic type of singing, although I love classical music. My mom played this song all the time. She passed away unexpectedly from a late diagnosis of cancer that caught everyone by surprise, even her doctor who ordered the tests. She was diagnosed on March 21, 2023 just 3 days after we buried my uncle, her youngest brother. My mom passed away on May 24th. She made it to her 81st birthday on May 2, and even Mother’s Day, May 14. I took her to the Emergency Room on Mother’s Day when I noticed she had jaundiced eyes, just after spending the day at the park with her older sister, for what would be their last get together. We took my mom home under hospice care after a few days in the hospital and she passed away in front of my dad and me. It was so surreal. She was struggling to breathe and in the blink of an eye she was gone. We couldn’t do anything that was going to save her. I can’t believe she’s gone. I don’t even know how to grieve because it’s like the rug was pulled out from under us. We will be burying her on Sept. 5th. We want to play songs my mom loved. We will be playing this song. Little did I know this song she played was a good bye song. Good Bye, Mom. I know you believed in the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross to die for your sins and that you are with Him now in perfect peace. This is the only way I can be happy, because you are in the best hands. I love you, Mom. I wish I could’ve given you a grand child like you always wanted. I’m thankful life here on earth is temporary and that God has something better in store for us after this life because He saved us from our sins; sins that none of could pay for but His son paid for with His own life. Dad and I will see you some day. I miss you, Mom!
