Renters Helpline: Tenant Protection Program Training

Tenant Protection Program (TPP) was passed by the Sacramento City Council and took effect on September 12, 2019. This ordinance imposes rent caps and just cause eviction requirements on some, but not all, rental properties within Sacramento city limits.

The City of Sacramento has contracted with Renters Helpline to assist with implementing the city’s Tenant Protection Program. Renters Helpline will provide complaint referral and information service to City of Sacramento resident renters and rental housing owners to educate them on the TPP, provide options for dispute resolution, screen for possible violations and provide appropriate referrals. The collaborative partnership between the City and Renters Helpline team will promote public awareness of ordinance, prohibit rent gouging, limit annual rent increases, and address other violations of the ordinance.
