I stopped eating animals 31 years ago and have been vegan the past 19 years and all whole foods the past 5 years. I'm 49 and weigh what I weighed at 19, and I haven't had a cold since I was 23. I love the story of the guy at the end. If you (the guy at the end) happen to see this comment, I'm happy you didn't end your life, and commend you for what you've done. 👍👍

My wife Dorothy started this diet almost 10 years ago and to make it easier on her I agreed to go along. She lost 100# and I lost 40. Her type II diabetes and cholesterol dropped to normal levels within months but her doctors kept the Type II diagnosis in her charts until this past year when it was removed. Every now and then I will try some meat or fish that I used to love. Almost invariably I get unpleasant gut reactions overnight. My tastes have changed as noted in the video. I enjoy the varied plant tastes that I hardly noticed before . As an aside, I have always loved gardening. I was about to say the hell with it when she refused to eat fruits like grapes, blueberries, and figs when she had tried going keto. That got her nowhere. Since the WFPB diet my gardening has blossomed. :)

8 years of metformin and misinformation by my "family doctor" in my mid-20's, turned around in 3 weeks after committing to whole-foods plant based eating 4 years ago.

Type 2 diabetic here watching this video while eating asparagus, lentil and vegetable soup, and organic whole grain wheat bread. Can't wait to see how my blood test looks soon.

Can you reference the study that supports your contention that one serving per day of ham or bacon leads to a 37% - 51% higher risk of developing diabetes.

Excellent clear proven benefits of a whole food plant diet.

Lots of professionals want people to suffer diabetes, including those in comments here, money talks to them.

Well done Plant Based News.

I can't find a doctor near me who knows about whole food plant based diet. My doctor discouraged me from trying it.

Well done Vivian! I’m someone who uses keto as a tool to reduce weight and inflammation. A vegetarian friend of mine had me interested in looking into veganism and I’ve been quite skeptic. This channel has not helped. The same guys saying over and over again how science shows how whole food vegan diet is good and eating meat is bad yet never (almost refusing to) site a single study to look at. Vivian finally mentioned a study I could look up and explain a mechanism behind it. It was credible food for thought at best but finally something. The only useful information I learnt from the other women is to ignore videos that contain her face.

Thank you! Can you talk about type 2 diabetes that are overweight vs those that are slim and have difficulty gaining weight. Should they be treated the same?

What I need to figure out is why eating a plant based vegan diet is causing me high blood sugars. I eat fruit. Veg. Beans. Legumes. Whole grains. Once a week I eat a veggie burger (and not even on a bun). Over a week in and my sugars (which I am not diabetic and we’re running in the 90s with post-prandials in 120s) are now 150+ all the time. I feel like I have high sugar too.

If you can live with eating bread, potatoes, beans, and vegetables without any oil or butter then go for it. However, I find it easier and more effective to eat all of those "healthy" vegetables (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, peppers, etc.) with butter and olive oil. Just cut out or limit your intake of starchy carbs (bread, corn, potatoes, etc.). Instead of giving up the bacon and eggs, eat them! Just limit your starches and sugars! By eating animal foods along with "healthy" carbohydrates you do not need to supplement with b12, vitamin D, or omega 3 fats. Even starchy and sugary carbs are not bad if you keep them in check. It just is real easy to over eat them!
