Exceeding Expectations - Edifier R1700BT Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers

Edifier's R1700BT Bluetooth bookshelf speakers offer a modern take on a traditional design. Can an active speaker setup replace hi-fi separates? Given the relatively low price, can we expect a decent listening experience?

Thanks for the review. I've had wired "bookshelf" speakers hooked up to my computer for several years, and I think they are an excellent option for non-audiophiles.

I've had these speakers for a couple of years now; they were a good investment. I use them with my PC (wired) and Mac (Bluetooth) and using the remote to switch between the two inputs makes life easier. I agree that the remote seems to be very cheaply made and I have to look at the side of the speakers to make sure that the LED changes from Green to Blue (or vice versa) when changing inputs. Fortunately, they are on the desk so it's not too much of a peeve fot me.

I have had them for a number of year and they're pretty good. Only problem is sometimes other devices will connect to them. I used to live above a coffee shop and i'd have a kids game chiming through and last night I had someone ringo connect to it. I cant figure out how to turn that off or why it's happening as i'd thought it would need to be in discovery mode.

This is absolutely perfect! I was just looking for a way to improve the sound of my TV, and also add a bluetooth streaming capability to the mix. I looked at a whole bunch of receivers and what-have-you, but this seems like a much more elegant solution for what I need. And on top of that, very reasonably priced as well. Thanks, Dave! According to the fact we use Apple stuff at home, we love to use the HomePod mini. They sound really big and you can pair them to stereo mode too.

I just picked up the White colour of the Edifier R1700BT's shown on your thumbnail for this review. The White colour look really nice. I picked them up for my Computer setup & I think they're Amazing! Also at $220 Cdn, I think they're a real steal! 💯
