How Does a Clutch Work

How Does a Clutch Work? A clutch is a component used to transfer the power generated by the engine to the wheels through the transmission. When driving in a specific gear, the clutch disc and pressure plate are pressed together, allowing the engine's power to be transmitted to the transmission. When the clutch pedal is pressed, these two parts separate, and the engine's power is not transmitted to the transmission. As a result, the engine runs idle. The transmission gears can then move freely, allowing you to change gears. When the driver releases the clutch pedal, the clutch disc and pressure plate come into contact again, which enables the engine's power to be transferred to the wheels, and the vehicle moves. Finally, that actually makes sense. I can drive a manual perfectly but I just didn’t know what the steps I do actually do.

That's the best way I've ever seen someone explain how a clutch works. Spot on!

It's crazy that friction plates can grip soo much power

So that’s why we were told to slowly release the clutch.
Damn this makes so much sense now

Many people think that clutches are emergency brakes. This is NOT true. A clutch is actually a power breaker that cuts off the engine's power from the transmission allowing you to shift gears safely without risks of your car breaking down. HOWEVER when you need to stop or slow your car down you MUST press the brake first before you press the clutch or else the excess power generated in the engine will cause your transmission to miss causing the power to backfire against your engine and stall it and you'll keep coasting and rear end the driver in front of you. In automatic transmission vehicles the clutch is removed and the gears shift for you depending on your speed so braking is much simpler and easier.

Why isn't the clutch on the weel ? A pedal seems very unconfortable to use.

All I know is that that clutch goes out if you abuse it and it cost about 600 bucks cuz I don't know what I'm doing when I get under there I'll just have the car fall on me and I'll turn into a pancake 600 bucks better than that I hate it when the clutch goes out you don't clutch rhymes with

Jesus Christ is returning soon.

He died for our sins and was buried and then rose from the dead because He love us so much.

Whoever believe in Him as Lord and Savior will be saved.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
