Transistor Basics - Solid-state Devices and Analog Circuits - Day 4, Part 1

What is a transistor? A transistor is essentially an electronically-controlled switch or variable resistor depending on how it is used. A bipolar junction transistor passes a large current that is controlled by a smaller current. A field effect transistor passes a large current that is controlled by a small voltage.

Bob you are an excellent teacher! I've been trying to brush up on my electronics engineering theory by reading 'Art of Electronics'. Your videos always help to clarify certain concepts I don't always get the first time in the book. Thanks!

Hi Bob, I enjoy your explanations, very in depth. I'd like to hear an comparison of NPN and PNP transistors, how and why they are different and how they are used.

Yep, his old channel appears gone. That's a bad sign. High probability of this channel disappearing at some point too unless the underlying issue with YT was resolved. He should upload to other video services too for redundancy. Risky relying on YT alone these days. Sad, because his content is very good and educational.

Can you please discuss how the BEMF in BLDC motors is used to control their speed.

How can I reach your older videos on t other channel ? The channel doesn't exist anymore. I have not completed the playlist yet. 😢

Hello, will movies about the condenser come back? They are sensational

Hi, any chance for a video about chopper transistors/MOSFETS and feedback loop in SMPS.

Hi Bob, why does everyone talk about the voltage difference between the base and emitter on a BJT, when its current thats (if I understood you correctly) that opens the collector flow?

I think you have your air brakes backward. It is the air pressure that keeps the brake off. In the event you lose air pressure, your brakes come on.... safety purposes

A transistor is the same thing ... only, without the truck. ;)

Hi, what's happening with RSD Academy? I've been searching for videos I watched yesterday and tried looking for them today, and they cannot be found. Is the account still alive?
