So many “trends” coming in and out these days at a more rapid rate and most of that blame is on social media and all these pop up influencers setting rules. Interior design now feels like one big high school with the popular kids dictating what’s hot and what’s not. Guys, remember do what you want because everything Kristen and all these other designers are saying is “on trend” now in these videos, will be out of here next year or at the quick rate trends change now, the next few months. Then comes right back years later. Just save your money and design your space with that in mind.

I never pay attention to styles and trends. I do what I like in our home. It doesn't matter what the styles and trends are.

Trends come and go, but basics last forever, that’s my philosophy 🎉

I have an all white kitchen. I love and will always keep it. When someone says it is out of style, it is designers and companies who want to sell a trend and merchandise.

I subscribe and like her suggestions, but I've reached the stage where I'm now into "my own trend!"

While I love to watch, I must say that average income families cannot afford to “follow” trends. For example, if subway tile with dark grout is out, “Oh, well, ” a modest income family will continue to embrace it as is. The three rising trends mentioned, cannot even begin to afford “going there.” Love what you have, even if it isn’t hot and trendy, and care for it well. ❤

The floating shelves look great as long as they are not cluttered with things. Also, the dust that will collect on plates and cups is major on open shelving. Closed cabinets keep your dishware covered and dust free.

Trying to keep up with “trends” is insanity. While I think paying attention is good, finding things you love with an eye on classics makes so much more sense. That way, you can refresh less expensive items periodically & still have a great look. Thanks for sharing.

The hampster wheel of trends seems to be whirling faster & faster so it really is more important than ever to do what you find attractive and will enjoy living with for years and years. It reminds me of the wide leg/skinny leg pant "style" which seems to switch every year now! Just keep both styles if you want to "keep up" with fashion style.

Organic, natural, antique and vintage have always been my style and people have always loved my home. My wardrobe is also classics and I have invested and curated my wardrobe. I do have fun with trendy pieces by I keep them very minimal. Saves a ton of money when you buy quality.

I don't have enough money to do trends. I just keep it clean and simple.

I’ve had all these things……twice, so the lesson is keep what you love, it will come round again. 😀

It's your house, do what you love. I painted the upper part of my bathroom walls a light gray. A few weeks later, another YouTuber mentioned that gray is no longer the style. She wouldn't be doing that in her house. I don't care what the trend is, the gray makes me happy.

I'm all for open concept for a new build, but I cry when I see older homes destroyed by taking down walls and removing rooms. I own a circa 1930 Craftsman and I love the French doors, high baseboards and specific rooms. I have always filled my rooms with traditional English/French country design.

Dark wood light wood never matters. Wood is a timeless material so it baffles me when someone says a wood color is outdated lol.

I've had dark deep walnut kitchen cabinets since i bought my house. Waited long enough, and now it's on trend lol

I always thought floating shelves looked cluttered lol. But I like shiny. I like what I like and don’t really care if it’s on trend!

I think it’s insane to base your major items like cabinets and flooring around “trends”. I, for one, am not changing out my gorgeous timeless marble floors so I can be “cool” LOL
ALSO I always thought open shelving in a kitchen was a horrible choice.
