I like that Aizen keeps being involved because it shows that things will move at the pace of an immortals lifespan. Even if they seem to be coming to a crux at this point.

Even if not immortal, shinigami live long lifespans, and the events keep showing how their perspectives on things working is different from the Humans. While we live such short lives and must hurry, forcing us to break boundaries and get to goals faster, some of them are willing to let time go by.

For Aizen, WE might see it as imprisonment, but for him, it's just a fleeting moment in time. Maybe even Urahara Kisuke will pass, and he will be legend until he decides to just up and leave.

It's always fun to watch "heroes" and "villains" be just what they are. A moment in time of right/wrong people in the right/wrong place, doing the right/wrong things. Then time moves on.
