Fun fact, the crater edge itself stops at about 1200m down, if I recall. So if you can travel down into the void hugging the crater edge wall, at about that depth you can then actually go underneath the crater itself.

Meaning that the crater isn't actually attached to the planet core in any way, and is more of a giant floating landmass. Would have been a cool easter egg if the devs put a giant floater at the bottom there.

It's weird to think that the aurora was so lucky to have landed on one of the only places on the planet with shallow water (yes shallow compared to the rest of the planet) I can only imagine what horrors live in the void out in the middle of that planet's ocean. I wouldn't be surprised if the mega gargantuan leviathan is still roaming about and the one that died that we see as a fossil was just very lost. Or maybe died and was then enveloped by the volcano while it was still active

I jumped into the void in a Prawn suit once, it broke down at 7000 meters. I was waiting for Ghost Leviathans to show up so I can kill one and take a screenshot, but strangely, they never did. So I decided to just dive deeper. When my oxigen ran out and I was just about to drown, I reached the 8192 meters point and got teleported back to lifepod 5

They should've added something to really trigger thalassaphobia down there and had a line like when you enter the ecological dead zone, for instance "detecting undiscovered hostile lifeform fast approaching, are you prepared to die captain?"

Fun fact:that biome may have been a scraped biome idea that was called the single celled biome. This biome has single called organisms that was very deep in the water to make it darker and there would be tentacles that would try to latch onto you and drag u into the mass to digest you. The best would consist of screams and terrifying notes of trombone

Additionally if you go far enough North East at around 2000 Meters out at 1500 Depth the cyclops radar will be able to scan land masses that aren't actually there anymore.

Everytime theres an ocean game its like they miss the opportunity to make a fish so damn big it makes YOU inside the ship look smaller than a tooth pick but they can never make one that big.

Kinda fun fact: after reaching the void, the pda tells you about this theory that basically says the entire map of subnautica (only this first game not 2.0 subnautica or below zero) is inside a volcano crater, yes, where the lava and smoke spews out, also stating the volcano has been inactive for millennia, (millions to trillions of years), which led to all the fauna, flora, fish, leviathans, life, and all the biomes to flourish and continue to grow like it was located somewhere normal and isn’t located in a volcano even though it is. The pda also states that the map, aka the crater on top of the volcano, is 2km by 2km long, (1.20 miles by 1.20 miles.) I’m saying all this because the void is the end of the crater, the wall going straight down is the outer walls of the volcano, leading down to the actual bottom of the sea in subnautica, so realistically speaking, if you were to reach the bottom of the wall and were to swim forward away from the wall, you could escape the first game map and could go to other parts of the planet like the Sector 0 side. (The sub zero map)
