the core support can be a beefy piece of metal though it usually isn't.  windstars have a pretty solid subframe that's heavy duty and welded. other cars have bolt on core supports or welded supports that do not have much structural integrity. as for jacking up the motor, you can usually get away with a 2x4 cut off under the oil pan if you gingerly jack it up and make sure the motor is moving independently from the chassis. jacking from a small area on the engine block increases the odds of causing damage to external motor components and injury due to less surface area making contact. i learned that the hard way when i was a newbie. i would stay away from jacking from mating surfaces because that has a higher chance of causing a leak. i just wanted share my insight. with that said, i like what you're doing and i like to see people maintaining their vehicles. knowledge is a great thing to share.

Chris, I really enjoy your videos! They've been very helpful. This particular video helped me save my brother around $300 by changing the rear motor mount on his 1998 Ford Windstar ourselves. However, I wanted to let you know that the torque specs of 85 ft pounds you claim in the video was too high for the top bolt on for us. Unfortunately, we broke the bolt when trying to tighten it to 85 ft. lbs. Afterwards I looked in the Haynes manual and it says that the top bolt should be 50-68 and the bottom should be 65-87 ft. lbs. We were successful on the second install. Just wanted you to know so you could add an annotation in the video (at 9:07 and 9:31) in order to help others keep from making the same mistake. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

Not sure how you were able to film such a tight clear shot as the engine was being lowered over the motor mount stud...great video!! Nice job Chris!  Take care.

I rarely post positive comments but I loved your style of video....you didn't gab endlessly about irrelevant nonsense...you got to the point and were descriptive. Loved your video! Thanks!

Great video Chris. I recently bought a 1995 Roadtrek class-B RV with 144, 000 miles (on Chevy G30 van chassis). Took it in to the dealer for new tires and was told it needed to have the motor mounts replaced. Now I know what they are and what's involved in replacing them.

Replaced my radiator a few weeks ago on a 2004 lancer es and noticed my transmission mount was completely shot. It was the easier replacement ever! Take off the bolt that holds the transmission and get under the car used my impact wrench for three bolts of a frame holding the mount. Unbolt the motor mount and install the new one. 5-8min job. Gotta love old cars

The motor mount was the start of the long downhill of my mom's 2006 honda oddessy as the ac, then the battery, then the starter. I wish I saw this first!

2 of 3 mounts in my car are easy to do. # 3 is a real bear. Tech couldn't do it either. Had to call shop owner who was really slick in assembling swivels, extensions and an adapter to access the mount bracket. Made it look simple.

Chris, those tips are great! Lol. I don't know how you come up with so many. You have a couple up your sleeve and they are very useful.
