Mitch Phillips - White Moth (WIP)

Title: White Moth
Performed by: Mitch Phillips

This song is incomplete. I like it, for the most part, but I don't really know what to do with the verse/chorus melodies. They sound fine as they are, but they don't necessarily sound right. I tried it with 3rd harmonies, which sounded alright, but not quite what I was looking for. I'll come back to this and finish it up (and rerecord stuff to get rid of mistakes) when I come up with something. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment.
The problem is likely that I'm writing the riffs before the melodies - if I did it the other way around, I think I'd be able to focus more on the melodies themselves and just write riffs to go with them. I really like the riffs in the later parts of this song, so I don't think riffs are a problem. The next song I write will most likely have a higher focus on melody, though, because of this.
In other news, I started a job a couple weeks ago as a tutor at my school, and I should be getting paychecks pretty soon. This should mean that I'll be able to pay for vocal lessons, so that's slowly becoming something feasible. I probably won't start using vocals in songs until I get better at it, though.
