Rory McIlroy DITCHED The New TaylorMade Driver... FOR THIS!? When new golf clubs are released we often think about what new golf clubs would help our game. Will buying a new driver improve your golf game and hit longer drives, lower your handicap? In this video we take a look at the new Taylormade Stealth 2 plus fairway wood.... a golf club which Rory mcilroy has put straight in the bag for 2023. He opted not to game the new Taylormade Stealth 2 driver in Dubai last week on route to winning the Dubai Desert Classic. but he did game the new fairway wood. I would really like to see you continue testing this club and making the adjustments with both the 50 gram weight and the loft sleeve. You see I’m already thinking of this in the 5 wood version; and I’m thinking it would give me multiple options depending on the course and/or conditions with a single club. I could have it play like a strong 4 wood - weight forward and lofted down 2 degrees to a 7 wood with the weight back and lofted up 2 degrees.

Great video James, I'm gaming a ping G400 stretch 13° 3 wood I turn it down to 12 °, It's absolutely a bomber I will never get rid of that Club, It's great of the tee !!!

Bottom of that club could pick up a lot of mud in winter in the UK wouldn't that change waight effect of the club ?

I think like you said he will go to the Stealth 2 he just needs to hit it more and be comfortable with it in competition. I’m a pro who works with Callaway and I could have upgraded the Rogue ST and the Paradym, however I love my EPIC driver with the shaft combo I have. And the numbers show it. I think though if I get an extensive fitting instead of hitting the driver with my current shaft, I’ll have the Paradym in my bag later in the year like Rory. Ironically I upgraded my 3-wood to the rogue st because it was seeing really good numbers immediate compared to my previous epic flash.

I always like to see new drivers the most, only because the fairway woods I play are perfect for me. I use the 20+ year old Ping Tisi 3, 5, 7 and 9 woods more than any others I have. Occasionally I’ll cycle in my Cobra LTD Spaceport 3 and 5 woods for variety or if I wanna carry more irons and/or wedges but I always go back to my original lineup. They all use the Ping Aldila 350 series shafts. My typical driver are Ping G410 Plus or G410 LST or Cobra LTD Spaceport, all with a variety of Aldila shafts. I don’t get to play all year round so I’ll start my year with weaker shafts and certain woods/irons then as I improve I’ll move on to the stiffer options. Hopefully I’m gonna make a move to Florida soon and I’ll play year round at that point. Thanks for all you do to keep your YouTube Community up to date James. You Rock buddy!

I am not surprised. Look at his bag last year and you'd see he didn't put the Stealth 3 wood in the bag a long long time and it came out a few times too. He did the same for wedges last year too.

Side note: he played vokey wedges this tournament. And a 2020 TP5X

I have last years 3w stealth plus rocket and use it often off the tee. It goes farther than my driver its more consistent. Its set to the lowest 11.5 degree thats where i get the most distance

JAMES please do a test with this club changing the weights around . I'm very curios to see the data. I went in for a fitting last week but they did not have the stealth 2 plus in left hand yet. I did however order a Callaway triple diamond with a ventus black shaft and a set of Cobra king tour irons . For some odd reason my wife is not speaking to me right now. lol....

Golf clubs have become ridiculously expensive, £500 to £600 for this years drivers is just unacceptable and needs addressing. The normal club golfer can’t afford these clubs especially when they change every year

Just ordered myself. Ability to move the weight depending on course (run vs stop type shot) is what impressed me. Accra shaft - FW 75g TSix. I'm playing like a 3W HL to gap between hybrid and driver. Thx!

I bought a ping G410 3wood new a few years ago and I love it, it’ll be hard to get rid of it, I hit it almost as far as my driver, but I’d like to try the that new 3wood

Couple years ago I had nearly whole bag of Taylormade
Driver, 3 wood, hybrid, irons and putter.
I don't anymore. I'm not sure what's going on now with Taylormade but I don't feel drawn to them at all.
I did however use the Stealth Plus for last year but it's in my cupboard now. Perhaps their draw is curiosity.

As always great video. I would definitely watch a video of you adjusting the club to your swing and then compare the stats of a non adjusted club verses a fully adjusted club.

Same sentiment as you, James. I have been looking for a new fairway wood since October 2022 and even with the Jan 2023 releases, it is clear that fairway woods are an after thought for most manufacturers. Even more so for any wood that is not a 3 wood. Very disappointing.
