Depends on the steak, a thicker slower cooked steak is gonna be thrown in the oven or in a grill. But a thin cut like this, you can sear it and butter baste and it’s done. Cast iron will be the best way to cook a steak in the oven if you don’t have a grill

Cast iron is more nonstick and releases the meat Millard reaction easily so the flavor sticks to the meat and not the pan

Cast iron does make a difference, you can actually butter baste your steak without ruining your pan, you can turn the heat on your stove up to high without them getting ruined, warping, or even getting seasonings burnt to them, and to be fair, you got the cheapest cast iron and it wasn't seasoned with olive oil, also, Cast iron is mainly for meat and stuff, but you can use it in fires, ovens, pretty M uch anything as it withstands immense levels of heat, they may not be the best for cooking eggs, but I've never gotten a better sear on any non stick pan, and I use it for almost anything, it also works great in place of a wok if you need to make fried rice, a wise man once said "If you no have wok then just use a Cast iron, that white people wok"
