Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama streaming television series and a sequel to the Karate Kid's original movie directed by Robert Mark Kamen. The series was created by Josh Heeld, John Harwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who repeated their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid. Thirty-four years later, the Cobra Kai examines the story of "Miyagi Verse" from Johnny's point of view, his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai Karate Dojo, and the resurgence of his old competition with Daniel. The Cobra Kai also plays Courtney Henggeler, Shoro Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Dechenzo, Martin Kove, Vanessa Rubio and Peyton List. This series boasts high ratings on both YouTube and Netflix and has received widespread positive reviews from critics. The third season was also nominated for an "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. The first season started on YouTube Red in 2018 and the second season continued in 2019. After the production of the third season was completed, YouTube decided to stop producing the original scripted show and leave the show without a house. Netflix acquired the series in June 2020 and released the third season on January 1, 2021. Netflix expanded the series to the fourth season, released on December 31, 2021. The fourth season of the Cobra Kai was released on Netflix on December 31, 2021 and consists of 10 episodes. This series is a direct sequel to the four original films of The Karate Kid franchise, focusing on the characters of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, more than 30 years after the original film. Following the first two seasons on YouTube, Netflix will release the second season. There are 12 protagonists in the season, nine of which are back from the previous season, two are added to the main cast after being repeated in the previous season, and one is a newcomer to the series that repeats the role from the franchise.Thirty-four years after being defeated by Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament, Johnny Lawrence, now in his 50s, works as a part-time handyman and lives in an apartment in Reseda, Los Angeles, having fallen far from the wealthy lifestyle in Encino that he had been accustomed to growing up due to suffering from depression and alcoholism after being traumatized by Kreese's assault against him (from The Karate Kid Part II). He has a son named Robby from a previous relationship whom he abandoned following his birth. After losing his job due to an argument with one of his clients, a down-and-out Johnny uses karate to defend his new teenage neighbor Miguel Diaz from a group of bullies. Initially reluctant, Johnny agrees to train Miguel in karate and decides to reopen the Cobra Kai karate dojo as a chance to recapture his past; however, this act reawakens his rivalry with Daniel, who was a 2-time All Valley champion (in 1984 and 1985) and is now the owner of a highly successful car dealership chain, is married to co-owner Amanda, and has two children: Samantha and Anthony. Daniel is finally living the wealthy lifestyle he envied as a kid when he lived in Reseda. However, after his friend and mentor Mr. Miyagi died, Daniel's struggle to meaningfully connect with his children has disrupted the balance in his life. Meanwhile, his mother Lucille, his other source of support, has a complicated relationship with Amanda. Johnny's dojo attracts a group of bullied social outcasts who find camaraderie and self-confidence under his tutelage, a marked contrast to the kind of students Johnny and his friends were when training in the original Cobra Kai run by John Kreese. Johnny develops a bond with Miguel in a manner that resembles the relationship between Daniel and Mr. Miyagi. Cobra Kai's philosophy, however, remains mostly unchanged, though Johnny tries to infuse it with more honor than Kreese did. Thus, Miguel develops into a very different kind of student than Daniel, or even Johnny, was; he also begins dating Samantha.

Despite everything, I still see thier quarrel being the result of Sam. Had she been honest from the very beginning, regardless of how Daniel and Johnny would've reacted, the rivalry would've never happened.

Safe to say, Johnny is the Ali in Miguel and Robby's rivalry!

While I personally think Miguel is better, but Robby has majorly improved in S4 in both character and hair

The fact that they were fighting over Sam of all people shows they're both wrong lmaoo.
But now Robby's finally ditched her and Miguel left her for a Mexico trip so I'd say they're both growing up!

You absolutely nailed it, their rivalry has almost always been based on misunderstandings but with them in Mexico in season 5 they will finally have a chance to sort things out. Can't wait for a Miguel/Robby team up.

Also please make more videos about the rivalries like SamVsTory

I like how your honest with each character and not choosing a particular side. Very well explained! I can't wait for season 5.

I’ve always been more on Robbys side but they both have their good moments and failures

This is one of the reasons why I love this show. It shows us both sides of the story.

One thing I always hated about Johnny is how he clearly favors Miguel over Robby, and yet we're expected to believe he cares for both equally.

I can't believe there are people who think Johnny is a caring father for Robby. Like name one thing he did for him other then dropping him off at school once.

It just makes their reconciliation scene at the end of S4 feel so unearned on Johnny's end.

I tend to think Robby’s more the victim than anyone else. Even in season 1 when Robby finds out Sam has a boyfriend, he backs off for another season until Sam and Miguel are broken up and she becomes interested. Then she just cheats on him with Miguel. Between Miguel, Sam, Tory, and Robby in the school fight, with Miguel and Sam being the ones in the affair and Tory starting the fight, Robby tries to stop it before being attacked and taunted by Miguel and he’s the only one sent to Juvie for letting his anger getting out of hand after Miguel shows mercy, which I think he had every right to do seeing as how that’s what Miguel did in season one when Robby showed mercy and tried to help Miguel up in the tournament. Plus Johnny barely ever tries to reconnect with him throughout the whole show and basically replaces him with Miguel. I was fine with this for the first few seasons because Johnny was just being a sensei to him but in season 4 he’s flat out trying to be Miguel’s dad and putting that before trying to repair his relationship with his own son. I just hope Robby catches a break in season 5.

50/50 to me. Both are good dudes who make mistakes, gotta remember they’re still young. Wanna see them fight it out a bit in season 5 to get it out their systems and then talk things out.

Let's not blame it all on Miguel and Robbie. If Sam had been honest and just told Miguel about Robbie, this whole thing would've never happened.

Honestly Sam is the origin of both of these guys problems. If she told Miguel she was grounded, not only would he not have gotten drunk, but he wouldn't have tried to attack Robby. And that single act would have improved Robby and Miguel's relationship exponentially. Sure Miguel might not like Robby, and would get angry, but he wouldn't be influenced by alcohol into attacking a stranger he just met. I hate how Sam is portrayed as the goody goody girl when she's the one in the wrong, Miguel made it clear to her he felt like she was avoiding him.

And then Sam has beef with Tory over a misunderstanding, and proceeds to kiss Miguel, which he instantly regrets and walks away from, in perfect view of the party, and thus Tori. Tori and Sam had beef, but it was petty shit like tripping each other or calling the other names, but Sam makes a move on Miguel when she knows he has a new girlfriend. And Robby is just left in the dust, festering his resentment towards Miguel, especially after he won the All-Valley and all the stuff with his dad.

Robby and Miguel could have been wholesome rivals if Sam had sent the unfinished text her mom interrupted her from sending. On the brightside we get the Cobra Kai-Miyagi Do School Brawl, so fuck it.

Since they were fighting over Sam, I’d say neither one was right

They both have reasons for their actions. And most of their confrontations have been the result of misunderstandings and immaturity. Then there's Johnny's insistance on trying to be the perfect father/sensei to both and constantly making some easy avoidable mistakes. Once the air is finally allowed to clear between them they should be able to move on in a better direction.
