What rights do renters have if the A/C breaks?

A renter's lease or a city ordinance may require the landlord to protect the tenant from extreme temperatures, possibly including A/C repairs.

Who's going to fix all these air conditioning systems? There are only so many air conditioning repair companies... Once they are fully busy as they are now good luck finding one anytime soon at any price. Most renters are horrible at maintaining the HVAC filters, they expect the landlord to do everything... There's only so much they can do. I used to rent homes but now renters are so bad I will never do it again.
