That was good. The best review by far on the 135. Now I have to have one !

Awesome video, and these guitars are underrated, in my opinion. I have a 2001 or 2002, black with humbuckers. I think they came with '57 classics, which seem to do all tones very well in this guitar. Great, big warm sounds through my twin reverb, and meaty yet articulate, sick tones through my OG 5150 combo. Very versatile. Seem to be going for about $2K and look so much better than a 335...

Back in 2002 AMS we're blowing these out at $799 w HSC! I bought 3. Made slot of money selling them but 15 years later wanted one back. Had to spend $1, 100. There going for much more now...

This was my first “nice guitar”. I think I was in eighth grade at the time and had been playing for about 5 years. I still remember how it smelled and how fancy the little pink satin cover looked when I opened the case. I sold it like an idiot to cover recording costs for my band’s EP in 2003. I’ve sold a lot of guitars in my life, but this is the one I really regret. That EP ended up sucking too 😂

I’m considering picking one of these up. This video helped my decision-making, thank you!

Thank you for making this, the P100 vs P90/Classic '57 comparison is very well-done and useful!

Great video. Wish I had watched it before buying mine back when they came out. Could never get used to that neck and the P100’s, like you say, lacked just what I love about P90’s. Sold it very quickly. You tell it like it is in a friendly fun and impartial way and let the viewer make up their own mind. Good job.

I like the p 90s better than the p 100’s My 2002 135 has the 57 classics, which i like best. Good demo. Great chord combinations.

These are sweet. I've owned two, both tobacco sunburst with P100s. I think they are super undervalued (don't tell anyone). Probably just because they are not historic or played by many famous people, but also because of the unbound neck and silkscreen logo. I LOVED the sunburst design on the neck and headstock especially and have been thinking about picking another up and swapping in P90s to accompany my ES335.

Excellent review 🤛 es 335 -great but everyone’s got one, es295 waaaay out of budget & pretty much a lifestyle choice!
Es 135 - somewhere inbetween 🤔 could well be the one for me 😃 sexy singlecut shape & a chunky neck 👌
Cheers for the lowdown 🙏

Good review. Mine is a later version with hum-buckers, a slightly less thick neck, and black speed knobs. Its center block does not reach all the way to under the neck pickup, so it acts more hollow when that pickup's active. The center block under the bridge pickup makes that position act more solidbody-ish. The main reason these guitars use a trapeze tailpiece is because balsa is not strong enough to support studs for a stop tailpiece. It's a good guitar. I enjoy how it feels.

I have one. I put Lollar P90s in it and it sounds really good. Like you, I love that chunky neck. It was ridiculously inexpensive when I bought it 12 years ago, but I’ve noticed they are going up in price as word is getting out about how good they are, even with the stock P100s.

I’ve been looking for an alternative to my Trini 335. I love semi hollow guitars so much! I feel like I can make them sound how ever I want. There are some killer deals on these! A little on the fence about the pickups, but that’s an easy swap if they don’t work out

Any advice on where I can find a hard shell case for one of these? Gator or skb ?

It’s a great guitar in my opinion. Yours sound really good in the vid. Not everybody will like every model. I have three of these all with humbuckers. They all sound different from one another. My fave is a cherry red. U will never sell it. It just plays and sounds fantastic.

I have one from 1991. It came with the black speed knobs which I believe they used from the start. But swapped them with the gold top hat. looks much better. They changed the center block to maple right somewhere mid 90's?

If you ever hear one through a Magnatone twin you’ll never go back….
