As a Hispanic, Stop feeling offended on our behalf, we don't give a fuck.

If they were cast to Vanessa Hudgens in Asian roles, the internet would probably blow up with even more contrived outrage due to her appearance.

As an Hispanic, even I sometimes am not sure whether the person in front of me is Latino or Filipino. Lol. I say she gets a pass.

She’s not just Philippino. She’s also Hawaiian and various other ethnicities. She wouldn’t be able to get typecast anywhere if directors really cared to be accurate. She can play whatever role she wants

As a Latino of Hispanic origin, I have no issue with Vanessa playing a Latina. Filipinos feel like cousins to us.

Edit: quite remarkable that so many people don’t know that not all Latinos are Hispanic. I implore you to look up the difference before reacting any further. Thank you.

As a Hispanic, we literally don’t care. She looks the part, she can play it.

“She isn’t hispanic” proceeds to explain her hispanic roots. 👍

It turns out Tom Holland doesn’t actually have spidey powers in real life so we decided it’s an outrage that he’s been casted as Spider-Man.

“The Latinos of Asia: How Filipino Americans Break the Rules of Race” by Anthony Ocampo is a great book about this topic.

Can we stop worrying about people’s heritage and just hire actors based on how well they can act? This is getting ridiculous.

As a Latino guy, we claim Filipinos as part of the culture. Also don't forget Dave Bautista and Lou Diamond Phillips are also Filipino too but growing up we just accepted Bautista and Lou Diamond played Richie Valens so he's chill too.

As a Hispanic who visited the Philippines I never felt out of place there. In fact, the main language there has so many words derived from Castilian (Spanish) and the food and culture. So I dare to say I feel an affinity to Filipinos as Hispanics. They are wonderful, hard working people. And Yes, I will consider all of them as cousins. The next time I go to Philippines I will try to learn Tagalog as much as I can.
Gracias and Salamat Po !

I am Mexican and Filipinos are like brothers and sisters. My school was a majority Hispanics and Filipino and we enjoyed sharing spicy candy.

As a Hispanic woman, we come in every shape and color…. Even Margot Robbie can play a Latina role for me …

I’ve heard a handful of times that Filipino people are considered the Mexicans of the Asians 😂

There isn’t really a specific look of a Hispanic anyways. We’re all different colors. 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿

As a Mexican, Filipinos are like that half sibiling your father had before marrying your mother.

I’m loving the responses from my Latin and Hispanic people. We don’t care! We love our Filipino brothers and sisters! It’s all good. We don’t need other people to be offended for us.
