Hayes: Mitch McConnell blew it with Trump impeachment acquittal

They refused to convict him for inciting the insurrection and to bar him from holding future office.

I have always thought this. Mitch could have publicly said that he would vote to convict Trump and made a few phone calls behind the scenes to his mates and they could have got to the 66 votes they needed. But instead, Mitch thought that Trump would fade out to the background and the Republicans could forget about him. Stupid move, Mitch. Stupid move.
