Slow Sports Cars are Best Sports Cars!

Would you rather drive a fast car slow, or a slow car fast? Many people think a fast car slow is better. After all, the power is always at your disposal, so when the opportunity does present itself, you can go balls to the wall fast. The problem with that is...that opportunity never seems to come as often as you'd like. Even for someone who lives deep in the countryside, while I can find empty roads, the tragedy lies with how easy it is recognize me after repeated flyby's. With a Slow Car, you never have to care for any of that. You struggle enough just to get up to speed anyway, so what in the world would you need to worry about excess speed? Fast Cars are attractive to us because of how unobtainable they seem at first. The Z06 has always been my dream car, but that was in a time where I was much younger and more susceptible to being wowed by specs, statistics and numbers on paper. It was only until the moment I actually got the money to buy one, own it for a year, drive it well over 20,000 miles...do I finally realize. I kind of miss having a Mustang or hell, even my derpy Nissan Sentra. There was a charm to just revving out and actually driving the car closer to it's limits, everywhere you go!

Never in my life would I have imagined that some of the wisest words I'll ever hear would come out of the mouth of a weeb who drives a bright yellow car with his waifu on the back.

It’s great to hear things like this, I hate when people diss the Miata! Edit: Yes it is true the Porsche 944 gets treated the same, I love the Porsche 944!

Also whenever someone brings up “bigger horsepower = faster” argument, I just bring up any sport bike and if that fails “have you ever heard of something called the Ariel Atom?”

The speed or performance isn't important for a car. It needs to be enjoyable to drive. You don't care about your 2-digit horsepower number if you enjoy driving you Fiat.

I was pretty sad at first hand when my first (and still current) car (Ford Sierra) only had 120hp. But now I couldn't be happier. It has an empty interior, bucket seats, a roll cage, lowered stiff suspension and semi-slick tires. While I may not accelerate the fastest I can blast through corners so damn fast and just shift for 3-4 times, the motor screaming at 6k while ultimately only going 130kph (100 is legal here). Every time I go get some groceries I feel like I'm in some sort of rally ( i live in a mountainous area with lots of fun, twisty, tiny roads).

Though I feel its a bit different here in Germany. as we have the autobahn a high horsepower can actually be enjoyed a lot as well, because you can just go out at night to an almost empty highway and push those 500hp to 300kph+ fully legally which is a lot of fun as well. But that doesn't invalidate the point that a low hp car can be so much fun in daily life regardless :D
