The world continues to battle the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and countries are taking different measures in an effort to slow the spread.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says more help is on the way for seniors, children and domestic abuse victims. But as Abigail Bimman reports, some vulnerable groups at risk say they still don't have the support they need.

Plus, despite a low number of reported cases of COVID-19 in young people, there are calls for more research into how the virus impacts children, and the role they play in the spread of the pandemic. Ross Lords reports.

In the U.S., President Donald Trump extended social distancing guidelines until April 30 after America's top infectious disease official warned millions of people could be infected there, and 200,00 people could die. Jennifer Johnson reports.

While the number of cases rise and impacts are seen on global travel and commerce, the environment is seeing a different result as the virus has resulted in a stark drop in pollution levels. Redmond Shannon reports.

Meanwhile, as the world's attention is fixed on COVID-19, so is the focus on frontline health care workers, putting their own lives at risk to help. As Robin Gill reports, one photographer in Vancouver has started a social media campaign to tell their stories.

It would be better to give the money to Seniors, NOT to the CEO of the United Way, that is one of the most corrupt.

Give the money directly to those who need it.

My mom is a nurse and I've been super grateful for her.

The homeless and abused I wish help for. The people on the cruise I don't feel so concerned for.

Close the BC airports, this is a pandemic. It makes no sense one part of the people is at home being careful and the other part still travelling. The irresponsables who didn’t take it seriously and took a cruise or took a flight, need to be in a mandatory quarantine. There are travellers infected, they aren’t telling the truth. It is not fair for the rest of the passengers to seat next to a sick person, is highly contagious.

"We're not going to forget you"
Pfftt. The homeless, disabled and impoverished have already been forgotten by the Canadian government. I know first hand what it is like to live on disability after I broke my neck. Unbelievably difficult. Any added expense and food becomes the casualty. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I am just disabled. Paycheck to paycheck. I feel pretty forgotten by the Canadian government. I am an afterthought.

I love how the people who are disabled are just getting totally shafted. No support no help and no supplies. Seriously.

Why the hell would anyone set foot on a cruise ship now?! Pure stupidity!!

Hats off to anyone serving the general public in times like this. Hazard pay is a question to be asked at the end assuming we are not living in an utter depression ×10. I think this is the first time in a long time nurses are being exposed to what being a nurse means. Over the years the job has become almost clerical, the majority of true patient care being carried out by LPNs and other service staff. Right now however they are doing an amazing thing by the rest of us, in scary times. They are once again true angles of the trench. ( Exceptions to clerical comment; surgical, emergency, palliative, pediatric).

Cruise Lines are going to be out of business when this is over!!! No one is going to want to go on a cruise now.

Counciling is nice but it does not fill an empty belly or keep a roof over the heads of those children whose parents are in the low income bracket.

Where is the help for people with disabilities?

Like the measures to help children but SHAME on the companies who are expecting parents to continue PHYSICAL lessons/classes on-line. They're hiding behind an attempt to maintain normalcy for the kids but not realizing that this is not going to work for all kids so provide kids with the options to opt out during these extra-ordinary times. We didn't sign up our kids to do dance or karate lessons online (that's called YouTube) but they are applying regular policies when it comes to fees, costs, and penalties. Yes, you have a business to run but some parents/families are suffering too. This will be remembered after the crisis is over... remembered, discussed, and shared over and over and over again.
