You are sitting on an incline and when you extend your legs you move up the incline. What % of body weight is included in total weight lifted?

Great question! It can be utilized as a Calf Raise with an extended knee, which works primarily the Gastrocnemius muscle. A few tips:

@life fitness...safety should always be the main concern for doing any exercise. It was surprisingly that you didn't mention not to lock the knees when doing this exercise, as it can do a lot of damages.

1. Recognize the set up and motion is in a horizontal position, so the force of gravity is taken out of the equation.

2. To protect the knees, perform your first rep as if doing the leg press with the toes in line or slightly behind the knee and then extend the knees and walk your feet down to the bottom of the leg press platform. Perform your calf raises for the desired number of repetitions and then on the last rep, walk your feet back up the platform and slowly lower the weight stack down.

This is probably the worst leg press machine I've ever tried. No other machine starts from the bottom. Also I am 5'6 and on the lowest setting I still can't hit full range of motion.

How can you improve the range of motion? Maybe Im just short but even at the lowest level the rom still sucks

Have this in my gym.. The range of motion is horrible. This is not good for lifters it's only good for physical therapy patients.
