Does the ROCKSMITH 60 DAY CHALLENGE Work??

The Rocksmith 60 day challenge is among the most popular ways for self taught guitarists to learn. Similar to yousician, it uses a game to incentivize beginner guitarists to practice. But does the rocksmith 60 day challenge work? In this video I discuss my experience, and my progress made when I attempted it.

A tip for anyone who owns this game. Get a splitter cable (cost $10 or less) and run your amp to one side and the rocksmith cable to the other side then turn "player one guitar" sound all the way down in the game. You will have 0 latency and it will feel the way it's supposed to and you get to use your own amp. Best way hands down to play this game.

another way that ive found to stay motivated, is watching really skilled people on youtube play guitar and jam with other people

I'm pretty sure your opinions might be more valuable to someone just starting out than a pro. You really come at things from the same mindset of someone who isn't as dedicated as some of the pros out there whose advice isn't exactly helpful to someone who isn't already in that rhythm of practicing every day.

I love this guy! His videos teach me how to play guitar without actually playing guitar himself! 👍

Turning guitar practice into a game will help me learn new things more often. I find myself just practicing things I already know rather than learning new things. And I'm hoping this will help

My first time playing guitar was at 10 years old and I had lessons for a year. I gave up quickly because my fingers hurt. I'm now 25 and I've learnt more than I have in about 2 weeks ish (or 17hrs playtime on rocksmith) than what I have when I was younger. I'm still learning through rocksmith and I think I'm somewhat doing well

I gotta say man, you may not play much but I wouldn't change that ever because your videos sound like an aspiring guitarist thinking out loud and I'm feeling it.

I've been playing guitar for 2 years via Rocksmith and group lessons one semester a year and you sound like MY INNER BRAIN, MAN

as opposed to my outer brain but whatever you get it. Please keep it up you're awesome

Totally agree with your conclusions here. Me and my daughter (she's 7) have been picking up guitar and putting it down again so many times over the past couple years we've made very little progress. Now we play Rocksmith together in multiplayer and we're playing almost every day, mostly in Learn a Song mode. It used to be a struggle to get her to want to practice but with Rocksmith she is more enthusiastic than I am now. I think we'll start to follow Justin's guitar course as well soon but at least we have started playing again.

I've been given a small mixing desk which allows us to run two guitars into it with the signals going out to two Real Tone cables and two amps, with the better amp receiving the audio from the PC into its aux input. Zero lag and no hiding of our mistakes. One amp even has a pitch shift effect which we use for the emulate bass mode.

P.S. Steam currently have a sale on, 40% off Rocksmith DLC. 😉 If you have any DLC it would be great to hear which ones you think are most suitable for beginners.

My son is starting to learn some new songs using this game, he's 19 and has been playing guitar for 2 or 3 years, hopefully it helps.

Hello: my name is Brian and I'm a "Duck Redux" addict. I have literally played nothing but that stupid game for six hours a day on my days off.
