This is easily the longest I’ve ever spent on a single video, so I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my guitar expedition with me! As I said, I’m happy to answer any questions you might have in the comments down below about Rocksmith, learning guitar, and whatever else.

Links mentioned in the video:

Stream “Nice Enough” pretty much anywhere:

Here's all of the background music from this video:

And finally, here’s a link to the guitar I bought. Like I said it’s nothing fancy, but it serves its purpose and it’s great for beginners!

You... wrote a song after a couple months of playing music? Massive respect dude, keep on playing!

As somebody who has been playing for years, you are DEFINITELY a guitar player. Sticking to it and keeping it fun is the hardest part.

As long as you pick up a guitar and pluck a string just to enjoy the result, you're a genuine guitarist.

Dude you learned a ton in your journey. Ive been playing instruments for 20 years and have used rocksmith extensively (because its freakin fun). I can confidently say you are a decent guitarist no... a multi instrumentalist! You're very confident with your fretting hand, even with your pinky. WOW! Your picking, well as you say there was nobody directly coaching you. But in 60 days I wouldn't expect someone to pick up nuances in their picking or produce a song on guitar! and bass! That's crazy man. Good Job!

This a really great video! Your commentary is super thoughtful and interesting and the production quality is fantastic. Your song is really great too! Can't believe you wrote and produced that after two months of playing. Really fantastic work!

I think that Rocksmith is a great learning tool for anybody that already has the "want to" for playing guitar. I'm a guitarist of over 30 years and I still like using Rocksmith to "game-ify" the process of learning a song. You had the drive, and I think that was the main ingredient in your progress. Rocksmith just provided a rigid framework for your learning. Your original song shows that you learned beyond that rigid structure, and you internalized the concepts that it was trying to teach you. Great job on the song, and enjoy your newfound talent on the instrument!

That’s pretty much how I started playing guitar last year. However I decided after one and a half months, that I wanted to take lessons and I couldn’t be happier that I chose too.
Having someone look at your playing and giving you tips on improving your play style is really helping a lot.
Anyway great video. I hope you still have fun playing.

I have been playing guitar for over a year now and started off with rocksmith. The game is brilliant and definitely reduces the learning curve. The chord zombie game and star chords are perfect for learning and practicing chord changes. However, you have to augment your learning with reading up on theory as well as watch video's which there are a ton on youtube (if you can get through all the ads). The game does not teach you strumming and rhythm. Luckily they are some amazing channels that teach you them. Guitar theory can be very enjoyable once you get through the basic's but you always need to push yourself. For me this when you can call yourself a guitarist or say that you can play guitar. I want to master it before I say that I can play guitar which keeps me motivated, not to mention playing all of my favourite songs that I always wanted to play. So good luck on your journey.

i always say the best thing rocksmith does is that it gets you playing guitar. it kinda takes the work out of the learning aspects.

My son just gifted me a e.guitar for Christmas, almost 18 years after I bought one for him (when I saw he has a musical ear and talent ), and I bought Rocksmith many years ago. Is this one of mine 2024 resolutions, to learn to play a guitar? I think so . . .

you did great, being a guitar teacher, I can confidently say that you've progressed enough to be considered good for 2 months. The bad news is guitar is an instrument you can't learn and be done, it's a way of life and you learn in for ever. But that's me, take care buddy and stay practicing!

Keep going bro! Guitar is a lifelong pursuit and you’re off to a great start.

THE SOLO WAS EVERYTHING
As somebody that'd been kinda half-assedly learning guitar for a year this is very inspiring and motivating. I have Rocksmith and use it occasionally but this video reminded me that if I use it more often I'll get more out of it. Im definitely gonna be picking up the game again tonight to hopefully see the same amount of progress as you did in just 2 months.

Very thorough overview of Rocksmith. As someone who learned to play guitar from having it around all the time and just fooling around trying to be like my older brother in the mid 80's, Rocksmith looks overwhelming to me. Your commentary was amazing, and if I was considering purchasing, would consider your words worth their weight in gold.

Your song at the end is 👍

Great video man! It blows my mind that between 2-6 months you could compose your own song. I've played for about 1 year and I'm self taught and you've sold me on getting rocksmith to practice the fundamentals more and have some fun!! Keep up the great work and stay rocking!

Great video! I love Rocksmith and while I agree it wont't teach you to play guitar fully, it is a really awesome tool to keep you motivated and have some fun. Loves your commentary and seeing your progress. Hope you stick with guitar!

2 years late, but wow this video brought a smile to my face. That solo was nuts for less than a year of playing! Really inspires me to try this out.
