Anyone here trying to figure how to survive a free response ONLY exam this year?

I literally slept through probably 1/3 of my physics class, send a miracle.

Who else is here the day before their physics exam and hasn’t studied at all and hopes this video will automatically get them a 5

I too had to self study the last 2 months leading to the exam. It really sucked how my AP physics teachers focused more on crunching numbers rather than working with variables and conceptualizing the material. I was aiming for a 5, but I ended up with a 4. Not surprisingly, only one other student in the whole school passed the exam.

You see Josh Beasley, I was expecting you to tell me how to get a 5 in 4 minutes. I am 45 minutes away from the test and I still don't even know if acceleration is into the right arm or the left arm.

My teacher has LITERALLY done almost nothing to help us with review and did not prepare us for the AP Exam at all. We learned most of content, we did not do SHM, but have no clue how to do the questions. Our class has done more together than our teacher!

The amount of people coming to this video for this year's exam is insane. We all about to get 3's and above now.

Honestly, the way to get a 5 is to be naturally gifted at math and science.

Oh my goodness, you were exactly like me. At my school we did AP Physics 1 first semester and AP Physics 2 second semester. We covered the AP Physics 1 content, but we only covered half of the AP Physics 2 content. I spent my spring break learning electricity, magnetism, and modern physics, just like you. No one else in my class learned these subjects, and none of them passed the exams. If you are taking AP Physics 1 or 2, make sure you cover all the content!

Just finished my first year teaching AP Physics 1 to 50 kids. It was a lot of fun, but you are totally right about it being harder conceptually than AP Physics B. I love that we can go in depth on rotation and oscillation, which were hardly covered when I took physics (like you, I also had to teach myself a few months before my AP test).
There are quite a few good practice Free Response problems in the old AP B tests, which I've sorted through and given to my students. We went over three FR problems for each of our six units. They told me they felt prepared for the way it makes you write and think instead of pulling out your calculator.
My kids were still struggling with the Multiple Choice questions, which are often difficult for me to even understand. I like books like Princeton Review, but I don't know how closely their MC questions are to the real thing. Luckily, the College Board is coming out with a new online system with a few hundred practice problems from past exams.
Thanks for the video! I'll show it to next year's class. Check us out on Instagram: @shs_physics
