This may still be Simon’s channel, but Daven is growing on me. Not quite the same soothing docile tones as Simon, but good in his own way.

Really outstanding episode. I knew of Bell's wide ranging interests, but had no idea Watson was equally talented. Also, I think it says something about Bell that he shared his success, and profits, with Watson.

Watson seems underrated by so many historians that very few ever discussed about his successes

So good to see Simon has FINALLY unchained you from his basement to do more contributing! ❤

Oh! I get it now! It's because you are _Simon's_ sidekick. How clever!

I grew up in East Braintree, and attended the Thomas A. Watson elementary school (since closed). My grandparents had originally moved there to work in the Fore River Ship Yard, so it was fun to hear more about the place. By the way, Quincy is nicknamed the Granite City because of the quarries that were located there. Simon shot a video about that a while back. At the time that John Quincy Adams was born, Quincy was part of Braintree, but the city split off later. Thanks for the info!

This was fascinating. He was a true renaissance man.
It is good to be curious.

Tom Watson was a bad ass! A LEGEND! Who else had such a diverse career with astounding success at each?!? I can only come up with George Westinghouse.

In a way, if you consider the mechanics of the spring vibrating creating a voltage that varied along the exact frequency, Watson & Bell also accidently invented the electric guitar!

Great video a lot of history in twenty minutes. Also a great job by the narrator.

Watson's name is forever associated with the telephone. That's a win in my book.

I know Simon has no idea who Frodo and Sam or Han and Chewy are. But does Dave? I bet he does.

Another flavor of the channel!

I love these little pseudo-biographics. A very interesting character I'd never even heard of.

Do a video on sound powered telephones and "growlers" like are used in the Navy please. Its a cool anachronistic technology with relevant uses today.

I'm surprised the workers were less concerned about safety when in those days, you didn't have safety nets if you got hurt, and things were a lot harder without all the modern technology we have. So an injury today may not be as big of a deal, but that same injury a century ago may cause you to have to stop working or not be able to take care of yourself if say you could no longer ride a horse into town anymore or whatever.
