Gold & Silver is probably the best generation for metronome, the movepool isn't as shallow and broken as in R/B/Y but it's shallow enough that there are more good options than bad

Imagine taking over your Elite Four Father's Gym, trying to make him proud, and losing to a Pokemon that hasn't fully hatched yet.

Rollout and Return are insanelly broken in Gen 2. I just love how different generations have different exploits that breaks the game. As an 30's person, badge boost glitch will always be my favorite

You glossed over how insane STAB return is in gen 2. It's not 102 plus stab. It's 102 plus stab, plus plain badge type boost. Making it a 172 base power move. Unless you are hitting 90 base power super effective moves, or a quad effective move. Return is always better.

Just to let you know, Fire Blast would not thaw you out if you're frozen. The only two moves that self-thaw in Gen 2 are Flame Wheel and Sacred Fire. Outside of those, you have a 1-in-5 chance of defrosting on your own. Game Freak put that in there to prevent freeze from being the virtual death sentence that it was in Gen 1.

I think this run showcases how good being part of the fast level up group is, and how important having a wide move pool is. You almost always had a move that did what you needed, and that's not often the case in your runs.

Unofficial Gold/Silver Rankings:

1) Togepi

2) Shuckle

3) Zubat

4) Wobbuffet

With Return, it turns out that friendship really was the strongest power all along.

I did some calculations yesterday and despite the fact that this is not a red/blue run I wanna tell you about it anyway. Not acknowledging the stat multipliers from the moves used. If a pokemon in generation 1 got 36 badge boosts (6 for attack, defense, special, speed, evasion and accuracy) it could get an attack stat (or any other stat) from 9 all the way up to 624 which I was honestly shocked to see (Edit: I'm bad at typing)

Ever since the GS beta came out, Togepi has the most interesting development, first it didn't have an evolution, meaning its base stats could've been between Farfetch'd and Heracross and second, it had an actual moveset: (1) Peck, (8)Withdraw, (15) Mirror Move, (22) Charm, (29) Spike Cannon, (36) Protect, (43) Recover, (50) Skull Bash. Not great, but way better than its final.

Oh wow I remember waiting forever watching the show to see that egg hatch. Hearing the first "togepreeee!" was truly a momentous occasion

Every time Jrose says "I'm going with a bit of a different strat" it's rollout. It's always rollout lol

"It's 4 AM babe, it's time for your Jrose video out of nowhere"

"Yes honey!"

Omg I loved using metronome in Silver. I love how the madness affects both the opp and Togepi. I always felt bad for the self-destructs... But it was such a fun gamble.

Togepi!! The Togepi line is my absolute favorite, so happy to see how good the little guy can do on its own!

2:30 I could write a scenario where Bugsy's team comp could work in a remake scenario- if this was using the "gym leader uses their own TM" situation, and this was a gen with u turn, then it could work. Scyther is fast and hard hitting. Many of us might be tempted to just tank a hit and try to retaliate with a fire or flying move. But bam- the scyther switches to a kakuna that takes the hit for it. Then the kakuna does a poison sting, poisoning your one good typed pokemon, and they weapon you down with stall tactics until the scyther comes back to finish you off.

Return on normal types is ridiculously broken in gen 2, it's so fun. I did a Rattatta/Raticate solo run, and towards the end, anything that didn't resist normal, I oneshot with Return, and anything that did resist normal, I killed with Super Fang + Return.

With no exaggeration, seeing a new Jrose video in my feed makes my day exponentially better than it ever could be any other day.

Really happy to see a GSC run. I inherited a copy of Gold as a kid from an older cousin and I still own it to this day along with my gameboy color. By far my favorite pokemon game ever, so its only natural I should love this one more than I love your other videos.
