Geology of the Great Sphinx of Egypt Part 1: The Seismic Survey Data | Ancient Architects

Last week I released a video on the Geology of the Sphinx and within 3 hours I took it down and that’s in fairness to you, the viewers, because thanks to comments from both Anyextee and Manu Seyfzadeh they immediately presented things I had not considered or mentioned. This is a vastly complicated subject and I welcomed their insights. It’s not often I take down a video so quickly and this subject is so important and needs to be more thorough. For that reason this is now part 1 of a two part mini series.

Even if you’re a bit of a know-it-all like me, you will learn something in his video, that’s for sure – I know I did. Anyextee discusses many things and touches upon a specific subject in the controversy surrounding the age of the Sphinx.

It’s not just the erosion patterns seen on enclosure wall that has led researchers Robert Schoch and John Anthony West to propose a new original date of the monument, but it’s the seismic surveys that were conducted by Dr Robert Schoch and Thomas Dobecki in the early 1990s.

As Anyextee said, most alternative researchers and YouTubers rarely mention this latter study – and admittedly that includes me, and you’ll see why shortly, because of the complexity of this video. It’s easy to look at the erosion patterns and say yey or ney as to whether or not you believe it is rain-induced weathering, but many forget there is scientific data to underpin it – the seismic surveys by Schoch and Dobecki.

I have Masters Degree in Geology and I should be able to have a better understanding of the data than most, so in this take 2 of my look at the geology of the Sphinx, that’s what I’ll be looking at first and foremost. Does the interpretation of the seismic data really point to the Sphinx being 7-10,000 years old, or is there another more simpler interpretation? Watch the video to learn more.

Aaaaah, I wondered where this went!!! I think the fact you took it down to specifically make it more factual and sincere, shows alot about your credibility as a reseacher, and YouTube influencer Matt. Thanks for reuploading, gonna watch now :)

I love the way you invite experts to join the conversation and give their input to further everyone's knowledge or open the way for further research, well done.

Another argument against wind erosion is that when the enclosure is left alone for any period of time, it fills with sand . The enclosure walls are not exposed to the wind for most of history.

The channel I’m most excited for when a video drops

Once again, your continued dedication to observing and questioning known scientific evidence is deeply appreciated. Fascinating video. Well done.

Love your support of other channels and your willingness to reexamine your own theories. Very respectable.

Historically speaking, admitting to one’s mistakes is not common.

I have to say it... i love that the discussion shifted towards pure geology and not egyptology on this. because you would have MR zahi sthicking his nose in the matter.

I don't always agree with your positions, but damn if I don't respect your willingness to change them.

Well..that was a flashback to my childhood. My dad was a world renown exploration geologist and geochemist. Mostly hard rock, looking for gold, diamonds etc... But dinner was filled with talk about geophysics and geochemistry, dip, strikes, sedimentary, igneous, kimberlite pipes and you name it about geology. I thought it was normal for kids to know how to read topo-maps and glaciation was just common sense...I had a wierd childhood...with loads of rocks all over the house. So while this might have been a bit of a mind numbing experience for some, it was a "ya of course these are valid questions" for me. What a flashback.... PS Geophysicists are often referred to as "Geo-Magicians" by Geochemists... LOL.

Wow! Extremely comprehensive and fascinating. I'll need to watch a few more times to get my head around it.
Id love to see Shochs response because this is extremely compelling

That's all very well and good but you haven't introduced aliens into the equation

I was pleased that I record all your videos (phew). Now, I can go back and look again and decided from the evidence, and from the work of others what could be correct. The word 'could' is the optimum word here, for we might never know. Well done.

Thought provoking. Balanced. Even the depth of your fascination is fascinating. Thanks, Matt. And...I find your vocal style to be both distinctive and engaging.
