Casey Putsch shows the first test of the new Legacy Autosport USAC Silver Crown prototype race car. Casey speaks candidly of everything going on behind the scenes of his efforts to race professionally. Thank you for the update Casey. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope stuff finally goes your way with the racing.

I believe that IMSA would be a good fit for you, Casey. There is already a class for non-pro drivers that you should easily slot into. You would also be competing with Indycar, NASCAR, & LeMans drivers, which would provide invaluable experience. And *any* time on track is positive exposure for your primary passion, Genius Garage.

The acceleration of those cars coming out of a corner is just insane. Big engine, no weight, I love these cars!

I always dish it out raw and real people. A new badass USAC Silver Crown car! Also, this is my road and here is my story. What surprised you the most?

Casey I think you hit the nail on the head when you stated you were chasing a dream of what you remembered Indy car was when you were a kid. Those days have past. Personally feel you need to take your engineering mentality and put towards your dream. Think out side the box, adapt to challenges and you will get a better result. You do this every day, you got this!

Paradoxically, as much as they promote the sport, once sponsors become involved, so does the fuckery. I would love to see more fixed buy-in, known cost options for racing, as well as more open-class stuff so we can actually see exciting new designs. Sure, WE think of indy as the highest art, but most younger people see it as an ancient boomer-sport burdened by weird regulations divorcing it from what is possible and forward-looking. The gulf between spec-miata and pikes-peak racing and formula/indy is weirdly huge in so many ways. All brilliant racers dream of competing with the spoiled elite, and all brilliant engineers dream of bringing a new design to the track and setting a new standard, but neither has a path in current racing. That explains who is left, and its not passionate racers or engineers in too many cases. I would throw countless hours into a sport (or related business) I cared about, but right now Lemons is closer than indy to that dream, no matter your budget. I wish ya luck.

I've been watching the GridLife series and that is some awesome grassroots racing! Its very accessible for the average person to get involved with too.

Out, but not over!
Awaiting the next transmission.
Glad to get an update, was wondering about the situation.
Obviously much to think about, I know because my situation is very similar.
Stay sharp, stay true!

Global endurance racing and IMSA included are going to be entering a modern golden-age with the introduction of the GTP/LMDh/LMH parity. There will be plenty of seats at some level of IMSA if you can manage to get connected with the right people in the next little while.

Cool looking silver crown .... We had a cool slot car track with super modified bodies on a banked oval once in our town in the 90s ..I'm from the 60s slot time. Really liked the super mod car to race .. I didn't think I would at first but racing is racing no matter what the track is like... I was spoiled on the huge tracks and really was surprised how much fun it felt like with that style ..

"This what Indy car was and should be now." Totally agree and true! Thousands of dollars for one day of driving is insane!

Tyler Roahrig aka Kid Rocket, is a hell of an Outlaw Super Late Model racer too. We race against him often in southwest Michigan and northern Indiana asphalt tracks. Kid can wheel anything

Silver crowns are genuinely some of the biggest beasts of racing machinery to have ever existed. Honestly the best race I have ever attended was the 2019 Hoosier Hundred, and 2nd best being the 2019 carb night classic. Both silver crown events

IMSA would be very cool to get into. I think it would be a series worth your time and effort to get into, and not only do I hope you strongly consider it - I hope you go for it. I know you would add value to that series and I think it would be just the type and level of racing that could fulfill that racing "itch" that you have had for a very long time now.

Coming from a small town that's rather unremarkable, yet was home to Art Cross (if ya know ya know), and having spent time with him, I agree.

Almost every form of 'professional' racing is for Rich People, not normal plebes. That's probably why most folks run weekend drag cars or local circle track cars. Or Lemons.

Because that's all that's really available anymore.

And it sucks. Especially for guys who actually enjoy the cars and the drive.
