I am using an M1 air for development, and believe me : Its more than enough. Dont fall in the trap of getting MB pro, dont waste ur time looking for whats right for u. U Probably know a developer around u that has a beat up 200$ thinkpad form 2012 and he rocks. Our tools are amazing for some time now, just do the work...

The 13" M2 MBP 'Air' is a legit option in many countries whose currencies are substantially weaker than the USD. For eg, where I live, the 14" M1 MBP base model costs almost 50% more than a 13" M2 MBP configured with 16GB RAM.

m1 base model is way better than m2 base model. if you don’t think about upgrading the m2 to 512 gb ssd and 16 gb ram you should go for m1 air. search for m2 ssd speed issue and decide ;)

As a student who would be using a macbook for writing essays on word, researching, browsing the web and watching things like youtube and netflix which MBA would be better? (I don’t own one already) I was wondering if the M2 would be a better investment to last longer? But if I chose M2 would I be able to buy the base model?

Helllo ! Loved your video :) I was wondering for me as a uni student who does a lot of transcription and occasional video editing on FCP, would the M2 Air, 16 GB RAM + 512 GB SSD be good enough till end of uni + postgrad ? I currently have the super problematic 2017 MBP and it’s low-key dying but I realise my fan is super loud and always running… that’s why idk if it’s the model I’m using or I’m just running too many things…

cut it short if u have money buy the m2 air max out version, no money get the m1 air base

A MacBook Air is more than enough computer for Computer Science students. You don't run the GPUs when you are building software. You don't run multiple CPU cores when building software. At most you use things like that when you are testing your software, but you will not be writing that sort of software in most or even any of your courses. An Air is also enough to learn video production and music production. Yes, really. Lots of video and music has been produced on Macs for decades. This means that work was done on far less capable computers than the current MacBook Air. Similarly, digital photography was just about invented on the Mac decades ago. The bottom line is any of the current Macs will work for learning purposes at College. Will a budge Air give you hardware bragging rights? Of course not. Should you get the minimum memory configuration for monetary bragging rights? Nope again. Once you have settled on a base model, you should get at least 16GB of RAM (aka unified memory) and 2X as much storage as you currently need due to how the macOS works and the reality of software and media bloat.
