CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Camparelli (Danny Glover) prepares the jet pilots for their daylight raid to North Vietnam.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Two pilots go against the rule book in a bid to win the war in Viet Nam in this speculative military drama. Lieutenant Jake Grafton (Brad Johnson) is a U.S. Navy pilot stationed aboard an aircraft carrier after the death of his one-time flying partner Morgan McPherson (Christopher Rich), who perished during a recent, ill-advised mission. Lt. Grafton, who has become cynical about the current state of military affairs, is convinced that if the war were left to the soldiers rather than the politicians overseeing the Pentagon, United States victory would be swift and assured. Grafton shares this opinion with Virgil Cole (Willem Dafoe), a supremely confident new pilot under his command, and together they commandeer an A-6 Bomber, known as The Intruder, for an unauthorized bombing raid against Hanoi. The city had been declared off-limits because it was believed that it would have a negative impact on the Paris peace talks, so the raid lands Grafton and Cole in hot water. However, when the talks break down, President Richard Nixon authorizes the pilots to lead a new strike against Hanoi with everything they've got. Ving Rhames and David Schwimmer both appear in small roles that predated their respective rises to fame (in fact, this was Schwimmer's first movie).

Rewatching this scene after watching Top Gun 2 and it seems that technology has really changed for the passed few decades from the equipment that the pilots carried to the planes they flew and not to mention the weapons

It doesn’t matter which branch you serve/served in (Army here), but if you have ever been deployed or on a real world mission, you know that feeling that they show when the CO (Danny Glover) gives them that briefing, and what all he says. NOTHING gets your adrenaline and blood pumping like when after months or years of training, and taking up a readiness posture, that you get let loose of the leash and cleared hot. They did a good job of showing that. 👍🏻👍🏻

Danny Glover, Brad Johnson, and William Dafoe and Fred Thompson were kickass in this movie. I was stationed at pier twelve in Naval Base Norfolk, Virgina. USS JOHN F KENNEDY CV-67. Got onboard in April 1981 after they completed a Mediterranean Sea deployment. Va-37 Bulls Squadron teamed up with Va-38 Yellow Jackets Ea6B electronic war jamming squadrons. Working in aviation supply and outfitting aircrew was a cool job. Every aircrew supply clerk or antisubmarine warfare operator knew me when they needed flight clothing or gear. Very proud to have served in fleet supply. Got rewarded with squadron patches they are nice!

My older brother was an A-6 Bombardier/Navigator on the U.S.S. Enterprise around `75 to 78. He participated in the American raid and flyover of Idi Amin. Now, he`s only 66 and already in an early Alzeheimers ward. I came here trying to remind myself of what he used to be...He always did like that "Downtown" line...
