Cloth Menstrual Pads | Complete Topper Fabric Guide

Making the swap to cloth pads can come with a lot of decisions, especially around what sort of topper fabric may suit you best. In this video I will discuss all the toppers we offer (along with a few other common ones in the industry) and their pros and cons so you can make the best decision for yourself.
And since this is a video all about fabrics, I will also briefly discuss the common core and backer fabrics used and why we chose to use the materials we do in our pads.

I wore fabric pads for over 25 years. It was nice not to have plastic on me, and it seemed my period lasted less. For anyone worred about it, buy a few and try it out.

Thank you for talking about core fabric for home sewers. I want to make a bunch to send to south Africa for young girls and homeless to have some dignity but need to keep costs low so I can make more

This was crazy helpful! I've been looking into trying to make my own and often times resource pages are very vague. I really appreciate your knowledge!

I adore Minky! I bought a "Gothic Scale" pad and panty liner. Loved them! Perfect for winter, relaxing at home. I am currently awaiting an order that is all Minky! I bought an Emerald pad, a couple more Gothic Scale, and a couple of the Rainbow Leopard shown here. I'm keeping my eye open for any new Minky prints this winter!
I found that for running around at work, when you're hot and can only get to the bathroom once or twice a shift, the Pique is best.
Thank you for explaining the fabrics to us.

I've been on my cloth journey for lil over a year and it took me awhile to realize different topper fabrics did different things. This is a great video!! I mostly have cotton Lycra pads but wish to try minky & pique at least once but they're always gone 😂 I wanted to get the mushroom one you guys had but it sold out next time I looked

What would you suggest for fabric to use for incontinence pads instead?

Have you ever used the terry lined PUL from wazoodle? I stops 95% of slipping with out losing the waterproofing.

Do you design your own fabric? I find it really hard to get Minky fabric and it’s not very pretty.

Is there a specific pattern you would recommend. Is there a reason for you to use 3 or 2 snaps?
