Grammy Award-winning organist Paul Jacobs performs Johann Sebastian Bach's "Little" Fugue in G minor, BWV 578 on the Hazel Wright Organ at Christ Cathedral, Garden Grove, CA. "Hazel" is the fifth largest organ in the world, with more than 17,000 pipes and nearly 300 ranks. It combines the 1962 Aeolian-Skinner instrument from Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City with the 1977 Ruffatti organ originally built for the Garden Grove Community Church (later the Crystal Cathedral).

I have not even heard of this organist, and this might unironically be my favorite interpretation of this piece, amazing.

And the lyrics are, ”Bach was born in sixteen hundred eighty- five”.

I've been listening this piece for many years now and it is a shame I've discovered Paul Jacobs so far in my journey! Great work, this is my favorite interpretation of this piece and for sure best audio and video quality on YouTube

A superlative performance on this extraordinary, recently restored instrument. Dr. Jacobs is a remarkable musician, and currently the Chairman of the Organ Department at Juilliard School of Music. We are looking forward to his upcoming performance in Portland, ME on the Kotzschmar organ.

This is why Bach is the best.

His ingenious ways he was able to skilfully improvise on various themes is a testament to his brilliance and greatness.

Extraordinary combinaton of composition, artist and instrument resulting in what is, I think, the most imaginative and thoroughly convincing performance of this magnificent work by J S Bach. Thank you, Paul Jacobs!

Marvelous. I've always loved this one by Bach and here it's played beautifully. Nothing can compare with a full-bodied pipe organ's pedal notes!

I’m hooked on this interpretation or rendition. I’ve been playing it almost nonstop. It’s the best I’ve found so far. It was actually video game music that got me here. 😊 Bach’s music is quite the hit and a huge compositional inspiration in the gaming circle. A lot of games feature his pieces. “Little” Fugue is the final boss music in 𝘔𝘦𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴. I had Paul’s performance aired on a weekly video game music show broadcast by a college radio station. I’m a huge fan of video game music, mainly because I’m a musician—a classically trained pianist who secretly wants to be an organist. 😁

Dear Mr. Jacobs, for many years, there was a BACH präludium (in C ?) avaliable, which you performed in the times of Christ(al) Cathedral.
Is it possible, to get this version somewhere ?
