This is primarily a video of Joseph Grenny, one of the authors of Crucial Conversations, on a stage doing a presentation interspersed with some audience reaction shots. There are two times where a slide is presented on the video. The first is at 4:26 when he’s talking about the 10, 000 hours of observation that led them to conclude that how we act is influenced by how we feel. The slide is titled “Where Do Emotions Come From?” and shows a right pointing arrow divided into 4 segments. The first segment is labeled “See & Hear”, the next is “Tell a Story”, the third is “Feel,” and the last one is “Act.”

The second slide is shown at 9:51 and is titled “Skill #2: Watch for Three Clever Stories.” The slide says, “Victim Stories – ‘It’s not my fault.’” “Villain Stories – ‘It’s all your fault.’” “Helpless Stories – ‘And there’s nothing else I can do.’” Finally at the bottom of the slide it says, “Clever stories are the ones we tell to justify our silence and violence.”
