Even though gaming is the focus of this device. I can see military using this for flight simulators, DMV's using this type of tech for driving simulators. We all know Social Media is popular, how about a virtual Social Media place like Sony Home, IMVU, Second Life, and a few others. This device really has to be advertised and marketed right in order for this thing to catch on. I will grab one when its released!

I've seen a lot of terrible 1980s and 1990s VR-Headsets, but the Oculus looks like it will do something that all those 1980s and 1990s Headsets failed to do: to deliver.

I have my fingers crossed that the Oculus rift will make gaming mush more easier and fun.

In 1996 I use to play Mechwarrior on a Commodore Amiga using a VR headset... only lower res and not wireless. 17 years later...

how come you didn't say what the resolution is now? i tried the previous prototype, back in late fall, and it was awesome, but it significantly lacked in terms of res. Not just a little bit. it felt like it does watching a youtube vid in 240p (seeings as you perceive it as a larger display, i'll guess the res is roughly 480p) i won't buy it if it's not at least 720p, or much preferably, 1080p

I do like the idea of virtual reality gaming becoming widely available to the public. So far, I've only experienced VR gaming at DisneyQuest, so if the Oculus Rift ever makes it to store shelves, I would totally try to pick one up for myself. I just hope I'll be able to use the final product while wearing my glasses...
