I don’t see how the second method is better than the third. Just use the same multiplication / addition idea to split the term in method 1....

I've always preferred factorizing by grouping. It hurt my feelings a little bit when he said that it was the algebraic equivalent of a four year-old counting on his fingers and toes. I do appreciate seeing the other methods, however.
